The mission of Houston Parks and Recreation is to provide the members of this and the surrounding communities with safe, well maintained parks and public places; strengthen the bond between our residents through well-organized recreational activities; to promote health, well-being, and community; and to protect, maintain, and enhance our natural resources for current and future generations.
The City of Houston and the Parks and Recreation Department take part in maintaining 3 parks (Emmett Kelly, Rutherford, and Westside), The Village and Brushy Creek Trail System, The Houston City Pool and Splash Pad at Westside Park, The Houston Municipal Golf Course, Tuttle Soccer Complex, as well as organize and oversee 7 youth sports leagues.
