Schedule of events:

Friday night:
6:00pm Kindergarten Circus at Hiett Gymnasium. This is the 26th year our kindergarteners perform a circus in costume and sing specials.
7:00pm Variety Show performed by THE STARS FOUNDATION and a movie about the beginning of Weary Willie, the original Hobo American clown. The movie is
“Clown” – General Electric Theatre, May 27, 1955. Henry Fonda stars as Emmett Kelly in a fictionalized account of his move from trapeze artist to clown.
This event will be at the Melba Theater, Downtown Houston.
Costs for Variety Show will be $8.00.

Emmett Kelly 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run for kids
Registration can be downloaded at houstonmo.org. Race is at 9am starting and ending at Lonestar Plaza in Downtown Houston. $100.00 Cash prize for Fastest male and female. There is $50.00 gift card for best dressed clown in race.

9:00am. Car Show sponsored by Houston High School Welding Dept. Cars will be parked on Grand and Main with awards presented at 12:30.

9:45am Grandstand Stage recognizes Art Student Winners and 5K winners with Stasia Kelly, Emmett Kelly’s daughter, and our famous clown, Sparkie.

10:00am Festival opens with live music, vendors, clowns galore, amazing food, clown parade, and a car show.

10:00-11:00am music by Kirk Pierce
11:30am. Kirk Pierce
12:00-1:30pm. THE STARS FOUNDATION various musicians, dance and entertainers.
1:30-2:30pm. Houston High School jazz Band
2:30-4:30pm. Ben Bergmark Jazz musician

11:00am. Clown Parade. Many clowns. Clown car. Marching band. Come dressed as a clown and be in parade. Walk your dog in the parade dressed up.

3:00pm. Special presentation of the painted murals of Emmett Kelly as Weary Willie by City Mayor with Stasia Kelly and professional clowns.

3:30pm Showing “Circus” – Dupont Show of the Week, Jan 21, 1962 at Melba Theater. In the documentary Emmett Kelly steps out of makeup to narrate a look behind the scenes at the circus.
