Utilities

Utilities

We understand that having access to available service with the capacity to serve your business expansion is a critical factor in selecting a site.

That is why the City of Houston many years ago decided to own and operate the utilities found within the City limits. This ensures that we can provide your company with accurate and detailed information about the services, capacities, rates, and costs for any system upgrade associated with available buildings and sites.

The City staff that we have within our utility departments are professional individuals that have years of experience and are instrumental in Houston having the services that we do. Also since we own the utilities within our community we have the opportunity to provide certain incentives to companies that meet certain expectations the City has placed within their Incentives Policy. This can be found on our Incentives and Financial page located on our website.

Transportation

Transportation

Houston’s location makes it a prime destination for companies that are looking to ship their products across the world.

With access to multiple interstates, major state highways, and Regional Airports within an hour drive there is no doubt that if you build it here you can ship it from here.

Highways/Interstates

Highways/Interstates

With several major markets, including Minneapolis, Atlanta, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, and our namesake Houston, TX, you are able to reach millions of consumers from right here in Houston, MO, all within a 12-hour radius.

Regional Airport

Regional Airport

Recently the St. Roberts/Waynesville Regional Airport opened its Regional Jet service to St. Louis Lambert Airport.

This service allows passengers to be in St. Louis in just a 26 minute flight. The airport is located on the base of Fort Leonard Wood and is only a 52 minute drive from Houston.

Higher Education

Higher Education

Houston’s location in Southcentral Missouri is about an hour’s drive from multiple community colleges and four-year universities.

These schools bring culture and diversity, connecting hundreds of bright, talented graduates with area employers every year. They also serve the educational needs to areas adults and businesses through corporate training programs, adult degree programs, graduate programs, and non-traditional course delivery.

With the current work with the Houston School District, local area businesses, and Higher Education partners Houston continues to provide more opportunities for our community and our businesses when it comes to more training for the skills needed within the region. With the current work on the Piney River Technical Center, and the possible addition of classes in Welding, Building Trades, and Health Services we see the potential for more growth in these much needed skills trainings.
For a list of classes provided in the area, please feel free to contact our office.

Labor Data

Labor Data

With a history of large manufacturing companies calling Houston home our workforce has always been known for their hardworking mentality.

With access to great roadways we find many of the surrounding areas sending their best and brightest to Houston to work with our many outstanding companies. These are just a few reasons why Houston is considered a great place to locate your business and why you should do as many before you have and choose to be part of a very bright future.

We are in the process of completing a comprehensive Labor Study for Houston and upon completion of that study we will have a link to provide that information found here.
